Singapore Mathematics during School Holiday: Primary 6 and Secondary 1

How kids can spend time meaningfully during school holidays? One of the activities that parents may consider for their children is by learning Singapore Mathematics. In my opinion, Singapore Mathematics is much more difficult compared to Malaysian Mathematics. If your children can score Singapore Mathematics, they can score Malaysian Mathematics syllabus for sure.

These two children (siblings) learnt Singapore Math with me during their school holiday in November 2015. Their parents wished to enroll them into Singapore government school. So, they registered for the  Admission Exercise for International Students (AEIS). They were required to sit for Math and English exams. Through recommendation, they had their math tuition with me.

During the tuition sessions, I let them try Singapore test paper that I found online. Initially, they found it difficult to score the test, They failed many times doing the Singapore Math paper. It seemed hopeless to get a place in Singapore.  But they are hardworking. It took many months to get them ready. At the mean time, they attended school in Malaysia. Both of them improved tremendously in math. They got a grade A in math during school exam in Malaysia. Both of them scored more than 90 marks in Malaysia maths. But they scored lower marks in the Singapore test paper that I prepared for them.

They spent 10 months with me learning Singapore Math. It is time to take exam.

Finally, they managed to study in Singapore. I felt happy and proud of them.
